About The Bridge is Us
Imagine how much change we can effect by building a living directory of resources, easily accessible, that helps close the gap between needing support and finding it. This digital resource then becomes a tool, built by the community for the community—a bridge built by our own hands.
On this bridge, you’ll find youth who have aged out of foster care, kinship caregivers doing their best with very little, and families navigating the foster care system with little direction but with lots at stake. You’ll find social workers carrying heavy caseloads and heavy hearts as well as foster parents working to meet impossible needs. Local leaders, nonprofits, faith communities, and caring adults committed to impacting our community—each is a structural part of this bridge.
This bridge is built by all of us—a shared space held up by the strength, insight, and care of a whole community. This isn’t a bridge that solely leads from “those in need” to “those with help”, rather it creates an empowering opportunity for those who need help to, in turn, help others. This space provides a way for all those impacted by the system to link with local groups and individuals, forming a web of connections, and thus strengthening the social fabric of our community.
What makes this digital directory different is that it’s not just a list of resources; rather, it will become a living map of people helping people, crowdsourcing hope. When people add what they can offer—a support group, a free haircut, a legal clinic, a safe weekend activity, a trusted adult to talk with—it becomes easier for others to cross that bridge. The more we add, the stronger the bridge becomes, and the stronger our community becomes. We believe everyone deserves access to support, dignity, and connection, and this directory helps make that belief a reality.
